Dove Beauty Bar: Are you a skincare saint or sinner?"

Do you have a skincare confession? Are you guilty of regularly committing skin sins? It doesn't take years or a complicated beauty regime to achieve beautiful skin, it only takes seven days of cleansing with Dove Beauty Bar to have luxuriously soft and smooth skin*.

Formulated with Dove's signature 1/4 moisturising cream, this skincare saint is an indulgent treat for the skin as it does not dry skin like soap can. In fact, cleansing with this iconic beauty staple will help leave skin feeling enriched.

While using Dove Beauty Bar is one step in the right direction, there are still many easy-to-avoid skin sins that can contribute to the overall health of yor skin. See if you're guilty of any of the seven skin sins:

Sin One: Forgetting to take your make up off before bedtime

Removing make-up with a mild cleanser helps retain the natural moisturisers in skin. Follow this with a good face moisturiser such as Dove Essential Nutrients Protective Day Cream. This helps replenish moisture in your skin while it rests - to be soft, smooth and supple - ready to start the next day!

Sin Two: Spending lots of time in air-conditioned environments

Air-conditioned air can have less moisture. Therefore being exposed to air-conditioning can dry out your skin leaving it feeling rough and looking lacklustre. So next time you're enjoying cooling down in an air-conditioned environment, think about what it could be doing to your skin!

Sin Three: UV exposure

Sun tanning is one of people's most popular guilty pleasures. However, unprotected exposure to the sun may lead to skin cancer. It's not just going to the beach that can damage your skin - everyday occurrences such as lunch in the park or walking down the street can involve unprotected exposure to the suns damaging rays. Use a daily facial moisturiser with at least SPF15 protection, such as Dove Essential Nutrients Protective Moisturising Lotion to help nourish and protect your skin.

Sin Four: Lack of sleep

Sleep is essential for your body. It's impossible to look good if you are sleep deprived. While we sleep skin renews and restores itself - improving skin texture and giving the skin a new glow -hence the term beauty sleep.

Sin Five: Bad diet

Just like the rest of your body your skin requires adequate nutrients to function at its best. If your diet is high in fatty fried foods, alcohol and sugary snacks you may be lacking in certain nutrients, which is no help to your complexion. To give your skin the nutrients it needs cut down on these foods and include plenty of different coloured fruit and vegetables every day. Eat wholegrain cereals, lean protein and food containing 'good fats' like oily fish and unsalted nuts more often. Additionally, it's vital to drink a sufficient amount of water every day, otherwise your skin may begin to look dull and tired.

Sin Six: Using the wrong skincare

Good skin care is essential for healthy, hydrated skin. Many women may get confused about their skin type - combination, oily, normal, or dry/sensitive. This may cause them to use the wrong skincare or frequently change beauty products in the search for a product that suits them, which can irritate skin.

Sin Seven: Washing face with soap

Soap strips your skin's natural barrier of natural moisturisers and dries out your skin. Not only that but soap is VERY alkaline, whereas the skin has a slightly acidic pH, meaning that when you wash your face with soap it can ruin the pH balance of skin and can exacerbate existing skin conditions. Cleansing with Dove Beauty Bar rather than soap helps enrich skin with essential moisture and helps avoid irritation or dryness.

Remember if you don't properly care for your skin, it will soon begin to show signs of damage. Take the Dove Beauty Bar test to begin to see and feel the difference to your skin within seven days and supplement this by avoiding the seven skin sins.
